The art of projecting. A manual of experimentation in physics, chemistry, and natural history with the porte lumiere and magic lantern.
A. E. Dolbear's 1892 manual from Boston publisher Lee and Shepard, instructing teachers and lecturers in projection experiments for physics, chemistry, and natural history using the porte lumière and magic lantern. The plates are white-line optical diagrams reversed out of solid black blocks, showing lenses, mirrors, prisms, and ray paths in bare geometry usable as high-contrast schematic motifs.
