Villa Borghese fuori di Porta Pinciana
A Roman guidebook to the Villa Borghese and its gardens, written by Jacomo Manilli and printed by Lodovico Grignani in 1650 for visitors and patrons of the Borghese family. The scanned pages yield woodcut initials set in laurel and leaf sprays, a circular interlaced monogram device, and close views of torn, stained paper usable as letterforms, ornament, or texture.
