Histoire de mes ascensions : récit de vingt-quatre voyages aériens [1868-1877]

Tissandier, Gaston,1843-1899, Tissandier, Albert,1839-1906 · 1880 · Paris : Maurice Dreyfous · 29 pictures

Gaston Tissandier's account of twenty-four balloon ascents made between 1868 and 1877, published in Paris by Maurice Dreyfous in 1880 for a general readership following the new science of aeronautics. The plates are white-line diagrams reversed out of solid black: altitude curves plotted against hourly time scales, annotated with temperatures and cloud conditions, paired with narrow strip maps tracing flight paths over Meaux, Lagny and Vincennes, useful for hand-lettered axis labels, contour-shaded river and town outlines, and stark negative-space charting.
