A short history of architecture
Arthur Lyman Tuckerman's survey of architectural history, published by Scribner in New York in 1897 for students and general readers. The plates are floor plans printed as flat black poché against white, with dotted lines marking vaults and paving, showing churches and palaces reduced to piers, domes, apses and colonnades usable as high-contrast geometric pattern.
