Air Wonder Stories, Vol. 1, No. 11 (May 1930)
Air Wonder Stories was a monthly American science-fiction pulp edited by Hugo Gernsback and issued by Stellar Publishing in New York; the May 1930 number carries interior story illustrations, several by Frank R. Paul, for a readership of aviation and technology enthusiasts. The pictures are dense black-and-white line work — flame, smoke, rock and stranded airmen rendered in hatching and solid blacks — usable for high-contrast silhouettes, hand-lettered story titles and textured backgrounds.
