The second issue of Amazing Stories, the pulp science fiction monthly Hugo Gernsback launched in New York in 1926, reprinting Verne, Poe and Wells for American newsstand readers. Frank R. Paul's line and stipple interiors show diving-helmeted giants, winged Martian creatures and a comet seen from a balloon gondola, with captioned story panels and hand-lettered titles usable as headers.
