Battle in the sky
A 1915 piano march, "Battle in the Sky," composed by J. Luxton with a cover illustration by E. H. Pfeiffer, issued in New York by Church, Paxson & Co. for parlour pianists and preserved in the Smithsonian's Bella C. Landauer collection of aeronautical sheet music. The scanned pages are engraved music notation — dense beamed runs, slurs, pedal and dynamic marks, a headed title block, and a footer copyright line — usable as texture, rule-and-stave patterning, or period display lettering.
