Della Scoperta Del Nuovo Pianeta Cerere Ferdinandea
Giuseppe Piazzi's 1802 report on his discovery of the planet Ceres Ferdinandea, printed by the Stamperia Reale in Palermo for astronomers and royal patrons. Two copperplate engravings show a winged putto aiming a telescope across the bay toward Monte Pellegrino, and a front elevation of the Royal Observatory beneath a banner held by cherubs; useful for period instruments, architectural elevations and ribbon cartouches.
