Godey's Lady's Book August 1864
Louis A. Godey, Sarah Josepha Hale · 1864 · 13 pictures
A monthly issue of Godey's Lady's Book, the Philadelphia women's magazine edited by Sarah Josepha Hale and published by Louis A. Godey, dated August 1864 and aimed at middle-class American women of the Civil War years. The wood engravings are small instructional plates: a padded hair roll, a draped muff or bag, a ribbon-and-flower headdress, and a beadwork pattern laid out on a trapezoidal panel, useful for period trim motifs, dress accessories and figure-free ornament templates.
