Pocket reference book presented by John Paul
A pocket-sized reference book of house designs issued in 1885 by the Northwestern Lumberman Print and given away by lumber dealer John Paul, aimed at builders, carpenters and customers buying materials for modest frame houses. Wood-engraved perspective views of gabled cottages and farmhouses sit above labeled first- and second-floor plans, giving designers small-scale architectural line work, room-name lettering with dimensions, stair and roof hatching, and rule-bordered page headings.
