A Venetian pattern book of cutwork and counted embroidery designs, printed by Matteo Pagano in 1550 for women working lace and needlework at home. Woodcut plates show black-and-white grid-based borders: scrolling vine stems, stylized leaves and flowers, interlaced strapwork knots, all plotted square by square, giving designers ready pixel-grid ornament, repeating band motifs and high-contrast silhouette foliage.
