Florence home needle-work
An annual instruction manual issued by the Nonotuck Silk Co. of Florence, Massachusetts in 1888, sold to home needleworkers using its embroidery silks for drawn-work, crochet, knitting, macramé and cross-stitch. The 254 engravings render thread structure at close range: gridded drawn-work panels, checkered darning fills, Greek-key borders, knotted fringes and monogram alphabets, all usable as halftone-like textures, repeat patterns and border rules.
