Florence home needle-work
An annual instruction booklet issued by the Nonotuck Silk Company of Florence, Massachusetts, in 1889 to teach home sewers lace, embroidery, crochet, knitting, macramé and drawn-work using its silk threads. Wood engravings show stitch samples in white thread on solid black grounds, plus monograms and alphabets, giving designers high-contrast net, knot and weave textures and repeatable grid patterns.
