Florence home needle-work
An annual instruction booklet issued by the Nonotuck Silk Company of Florence, Massachusetts in 1891 to teach home needleworkers macramé, lace, crochet, knitting and embroidery while selling its silk thread. The plates are close-up wood engravings of knots, cords and stitches rendered as hatched ribbed lines on plain grounds, giving designers ready-made rope motifs, knot diagrams and repeating braid and fringe borders.
