Florence home needle-work
An annual instruction manual issued by the Nonotuck Silk Company of Florence, Massachusetts, in 1892 to teach home needleworkers crochet, knitting, macramé, drawn-work and embroidery using its own silk threads. The plates are small square wood-engraved diagrams showing looped stitches and threaded needles inside dense patterned borders, giving designers rope-like line textures, repeating frame ornaments and clear technical stitch motifs.
