Florence home needle-work
An annual instruction booklet issued by the Nonotuck Silk Company of Florence, Massachusetts, in 1895 to teach home needleworkers knitting, crochet, embroidery and lace while promoting the firm's sewing silk. The plates are wood engravings and halftones of swatches shown flat or folded back at a corner, giving dense repeating stitch textures, checkerboard grounds, ribbed cuffs and thin threaded needle lines usable as tileable pattern fills.
