Lace sample book
A manufacturer's sample book of machine-made lace, assembled in France around 1900 and kept as a trade reference for buyers and pattern selection. Black edging strips are mounted in pairs on vivid blue card with handwritten numbered labels, giving high-contrast silhouettes of scallops, points, leaves and openwork mesh usable as borders, repeat motifs or stencil shapes.
