Leaf and flower pictures, and how to make them
A craft manual on pressing plants and arranging them into pictures, published in New York by Anson D. F. Randolph in 1859 for amateur makers, largely women working at home. Plates combine actual pressed specimens—faded petals, ferns, whole blossoms on aged paper—with plain ink outlines of leaves, giving designers botanical silhouettes, herbarium textures, and muted browns for collage or backgrounds.
