Plon in Paris in 1863 for general readers and the curious. The wood-engraved cuts, many after Louis Le Breton, mix winged demons and grotesque figures with plain animal studies and groups of nuns, small enough to sit inside a text column and usable as spot illustrations, vignettes and cut-out figures.
