A Persian manuscript treatise on Friday prayer by Muḥammad Ḥasanī Ḥusaynī, copied around 1800 and now in McGill's Blacker-Wood collection, made for readers of Islamic doctrine, ethics, Sufism and talismanic practice. The page shown sets the divine names in large red and black nastaʿlīq across a grid of finer script on stained, wormed paper, giving designers Arabic-script display lettering, rubricated headings, and the texture of a worn handwritten leaf.
