The second volume of Max von Boehn's costume history, published in Munich by F. Bruckmann in 1919, reproducing European fashion plates and dress studies of the nineteenth century for readers of cultural and costume history. The plates are hand-coloured engravings of women in 1830s day dress and mantles, with gigot sleeves, wide bonnets, bell skirts and printed floral cottons, drawn in outline and washed in muted rose, grey and olive, useful as period silhouettes, textile patterns and figure poses.
