Fashion and fancywork plates from the January–June 1888 issues of Peterson's Magazine, an American monthly for middle-class women carrying dress patterns, needlework instructions and serial fiction. Hand-coloured lithographs show groups of women in bustled day and visiting dresses against garden, gallery and seaside backdrops, giving designers striped, checked and dotted textile patterns, plumed hats, parasols and drapery silhouettes.
