Scherzer rolling lift bridges : their inception, development and use.
A 1916 trade catalogue issued by the Scherzer Rolling Lift Bridge Co. of Chicago to promote its patented bascule bridge design to railroads, municipal engineers and harbor authorities. Halftone photographs show riveted steel lift spans raised and lowered over the Chicago River, the Calumet at Hammond and East Chicago, with captions set vertically beside tipped-in prints; useful for truss lattice patterns, industrial waterfront silhouettes and early photo-montage page layouts.
