An 1881 Hetzel edition of Jules Verne's Amazon river adventure La Jangada, issued in Paris for the general reading public. The four images indexed here are not narrative plates but heavy black digitisation pictograms from the BnF scan: a lobed blob pierced by pinned lines, and open-book glyphs holding a hatched shape or inward-pointing arrows, usable as blunt stencil-like marks.
