L'Épave du "Cynthia"
A French adventure novel by Jules Verne and André Laurie, issued by Hetzel in Paris in 1885 for young readers, with wood-engraved illustrations signed by George Roux. The plates mix snowbound figures with rifles, crowds of top-hatted men watching a ship at a quay, and small vignettes such as a stack of books under a question mark, all built from fine parallel hatching.
