A trade catalogue issued in 1887 by the Geo. H. Hess Co. of the Hess Stove Works, selling "pure air" furnaces, heaters and cooking stoves to builders, school boards and householders. The engravings show cast-iron stoves in three-quarter view, many with panels peeled back to expose combustion chambers, radiating tubes and labelled arrows for hot and cold air—useful for cutaway diagram conventions, ornamental iron grillwork and lettered nameplates.
