About etching and etchers; or, Short talks about the graphic arts, artists and some of their latest productions. Illustrated
A short guide to etching and contemporary etchers, published by R.M. Lindsay in Philadelphia in 1890 for collectors and amateur print buyers. The plates are sepia-printed reproductions of etchings — boatmen on open water, figures under heavy trees, a busy sunlit courtyard — built from dense drypoint shadow and scraped highlights, useful for grainy tonal backgrounds and silhouetted figure groups.
