Above ground archeology
A US government handbook by John L. Cotter, issued in Washington for the American Revolution Bicentennial Commission with museum and local-history associations, teaching students and community groups to study standing buildings and neighborhood sites as archaeology. Artwork mixes coarse high-contrast halftone photographs, child-like pen drawings of houses, animals and figures, repeated circular face crops, and 19th-century county maps overdrawn with doodles.
