A documentary compilation from the Lincoln Financial Foundation Collection on Abraham Lincoln's trades and his 1849 patent for buoying vessels over shoals, assembled for historians and Lincoln collectors. Halftone photographs and engraved line drawings show the patent model boat in side elevation and three-quarter view, with hull profiles, vertical spars and bellows frames useful as sparse mechanical diagrams.
