An account of the lives and works of the most eminent Spanish painters, sculptors and architects, and where their several performances are to be seen
An English translation of Antonio Palomino's biographical dictionary of Spanish painters, sculptors and architects, printed in London by Samuel Harding in 1739 for British collectors and connoisseurs. The plates in the index are typographic ornament rather than portraiture: woodcut initial letters set in scrolling acanthus frames, one topped by a radiant human-faced sun, a floral basket headpiece, and a marbled endpaper in red and blue.
