Achillis Bocchii Bonon. Symbolicarum quaestionum, de vniuerso genere, quas serio ludebat, libri quinque
A Latin emblem book by the Bolognese humanist Achille Bocchi, reissued in Bologna in 1574 with engravings by Giulio Bonasone after Prospero Fontana, addressed to learned readers of mottoes and allegory. The plates set muscular nude and draped figures, classical gods, caducei, armour trophies and hilltop towns into shallow stages, with mottoes on scrolls and inscribed stone blocks—useful for figure poses, ribbon lettering panels and allegorical attributes.
