A Latin textbook of natural philosophy by the Leiden professor Adrianus Heereboord, printed in Amsterdam by Joannes Ravesteyn in 1665 for university students, later owned by John Adams. Its ornament is typographic: a foliate white-on-black initial P, a symmetrical scrolled headpiece with flowers, and a printer's emblem of a seated man watching birds above the motto EXSPECTANDO.
