A Portuguese trade manual of 1757, written by Valerio Martins de Oliveira and printed in Lisbon by the Regia Officina Sylviana, instructing working masons and carpenters in the geometry of their crafts. The plates are small woodcut diagrams printed straight into the text: semicircular protractors and graduated arcs, plumb lines, angles and radiating sectors, labelled with single letters and numerals, usable as coarse-lined geometric marks with visible type showing through the paper.
