The aerial age : a thousand miles by airship over the Atlantic Ocean; airship voyages over the Polar Sea, the past, the present and the future of aerial navigation
Walter Wellman's 1911 account of his airship flights over the Atlantic and the Arctic, published in New York by A.R. Keller for a general readership following early aeronautics. Halftone photographs show the elongated gasbag of the America inflated and partly wrecked, crews hauling ropes and instruments, and the suspended car seen from below — sources for silhouettes of early dirigibles and ground-handling groups.
