Aerial navigation
Octave Chanute's 1891 technical papers on aerial navigation, reprinted from The Railroad and Engineering Journal in New York for engineers following early flight experiments. The scanned plates here are the Library of Congress endpaper pattern: a repeating diagonal lattice of ring seals with a spread eagle over a shield, lettered around the rim in tan on cream, usable as tiling ground or stamp motif.
