Aeronautica; or, The history of aviation and aerostation, told in contemporary autograph letters, books, broadsides, drawings, engravings, manuscripts, newspapers, paintings, posters, press notices, etc., dating from the year 1557 to 1880
A 1900 London sales catalogue from the booksellers J. Pearson & Co., listing letters, broadsides, prints and manuscripts on flight from 1557 to 1880 for collectors and dealers. The plates reproduce eighteenth-century balloon engravings: netted gas globes with wicker cars, crowd scenes at Versailles, landings in open fields, and diagrams of lifting spheres rigged to a boat, useful for period aeronautical motifs, crowd silhouettes and rope-and-net linework.
