The Aeroplane
A British weekly aviation trade journal issued from 1911 by Temple Press in London for aircraft manufacturers, pilots and the flying trade. Pen-and-ink cartoons of factory and airfield life sit beside framed masthead headpieces with crowned eagles and radiating light, plus grainy halftone photographs of early biplanes and standing figures in uniform, giving designers period aircraft silhouettes, caricature crowds and ready-made banner ornaments.
