The aesthetic attitude
A 1920 New York psychology-of-art treatise by Herbert Sidney Langfeld, issued by Harcourt, Brace for students and general readers of the new experimental aesthetics. The plates are coarse-screen halftones of European paintings and sculpture — Raphael, Andrea del Sarto, Domenichino, Michelangelo's Moses, a Botticelli-school Madonna and Saints — each set off by a numbered caption line, useful for grainy monochrome art reproductions and period figure-caption typography.
