Af-Beeldinghe van d'eerste eeuwe der Societeyt Iesu voor ooghen ghestelt door de Duyts-Nederlantsche prouincie der seluer Societeyt
A Dutch-language Jesuit emblem book marking the first century of the Society of Jesus, compiled by Johannes Bolland with plates by Cornelis Galle and published at the Plantin press in Antwerp in 1640 for the Flemish-Dutch province. Each emblem sits in a heavy engraved cartouche of scrolling strapwork, lion and satyr masks, winged cherub heads and pendant husks, framing small landscapes, river gods, peasant scenes and allegorical figures in fine parallel-line burin work — a ready stock of frames, mask ornaments and vignette interiors.
