Aims and ideals in art
Eight lectures on painting delivered by George Clausen to Royal Academy students, published by Methuen in London in 1906 for art students and teachers. The 29 halftone plates reproduce old-master drawings and paintings from the British Museum and European collections — Rembrandt wash interiors, Watteau chalk figure studies, Masaccio frescoes — useful as grainy monochrome source material for figure groups and loose brush-and-ink texture.
