The airplane waltz
Piano sheet music for a waltz composed by Thomas L. Massey, arranged by Otto Crowhurst and published in Seattle by Sound Music Publishing in 1918, sold to amateur parlor pianists and later gathered into Bella C. Landauer's collection of aeronautical sheet music. The cover art is a line drawing in blue ink of a biplane diving through puffy outlined clouds, paired with heavy serif display lettering; the engraved waltz score supplies staves, note clusters and tempo marks for use as texture.
