Album du siège : recueil de caricatures publiées pendant le siège dans le Charivari
A collection of caricatures by Cham and Honoré Daumier reprinted from the Paris satirical daily Le Charivari, issued in 1871 for readers who had lived through the Prussian siege of Paris. The lithographs are loose crayon drawings of one or two standing figures in conversation — top-hatted bourgeois, shawled women, National Guardsmen, a helmeted Britannia labelled Albion — drawn with scratchy contour lines, smudged shading and bare backgrounds, useful for figure silhouettes, period dress and cartoon gesture.
