A Latin antiquarian commentary by Alessio Simmaco Mazzocchi on a damaged inscription from the Campanian amphitheatre at Capua and other local Latin inscriptions, printed in Naples by the royal press of Vincenzo Ursini in 1797 for scholars of epigraphy and Roman architecture. The engraved plates mix cutaway sections and elevations of amphitheatres, ruined arcades in landscape, small geometric plans and scale bars, and thin outline copies of reliefs showing toga-clad figures and a spoked treadwheel worked by laborers — useful for sectional diagrams, ruin vignettes and line-only figure motifs.
