Amazing Stories, Aug 1926

1926 · 7 pictures

The August 1926 issue of Amazing Stories, the science fiction pulp monthly Hugo Gernsback launched in New York for a popular readership of hobbyists and magazine buyers, carrying stories by Jules Verne, G. McLeod Winsor and others. The plates are interior story headers in stark pen-and-ink line work, each pairing hand-lettered display titles with a dramatic scene — laboratory apparatus, electrical arcs, disembodied heads on stands — over a small italic caption, useful for lettering models, crosshatched shadow textures and early machine-age props.
