Amazing Stories, Jun 1926

1926 · 7 pictures

An issue of Amazing Stories, the American science-fiction pulp magazine Hugo Gernsback launched in 1926, reprinting tales by H. G. Wells, Murray Leinster and G. Peyton Wertenbaker for a newsstand readership of hobbyists and young readers. The plates are full-page pen-and-ink story headings by Frank R. Paul, hand-lettered titles over hatched scenes of erupting volcanoes, machine halls, early motorcars and a skyscraper among teepees, with a caption line beneath; useful for lettering, line-shading texture and retro-futurist machinery.
