American Graphic Art
Frank Weitenkampf, print curator at the New York Public Library, surveyed American etching, lithography, wood engraving and mezzotint for collectors and students in this 1912 Henry Holt volume. The sixty plates reproduce single prints by named artists — harbours at dusk, barges on the Thames, wet Paris streets, trees framing a distant windmill — in dense drypoint hatching and smoky lithographic tone, useful for atmospheric line texture and dark-to-light massing.
