The American drawing-book : a manual for the amateur, and basis of study for the professional artist : especially adapted to the use of public and private schools, as well as home instruction
A drawing manual by the American painter and engraver John Gadsby Chapman, published in New York in 1847 for schoolroom, studio, and self-taught use. The plates are outline engravings of heads in profile and three-quarter view, overlaid with construction circles, axes, and dotted proportion lines, useful as ready-made diagrams of facial measurement and as clean line templates for hair and features.
