The American dyer : a practical treatise on the coloring of wool, cotton, yarn & cloth..
A practical manual on dyeing wool, cotton, yarn and cloth, written by Richard H. Gibson and issued by Henry Carey Baird in Philadelphia in 1873 for working dyers and mill operatives. The plates are mounted tufts of dyed wool in ruled squares, each a soft round mass of fibre in browns, olives, tans and near-black, useful as swatch grids, colour chips with irregular hairy edges, and textured circular forms.
