The American glossary of architectural terms, being a concise and comprehensive compilation of all terms used in the practice of architecture and the building arts
An illustrated architectural dictionary compiled by George O. Garnsey and published in Chicago in 1887 for American builders, draftsmen, and architects needing a standard vocabulary. Each plate groups line engravings of labeled building parts "capitals, mouldings, tracery, arches, plans, steeples" drawn in fine hatched outline with captions set beneath, giving designers a ready stock of isolated architectural motifs and annotated diagram layouts.
