A Latin and French emblem book of divine and human love, engraved by Gillis van Schoor and Karel van Mallery for the Antwerp printer Michael Snyders in 1626, pairing scripture and patristic quotations with verse for devotional readers. The small square plates show a haloed child Amor Divinus and the barefoot soul pruning, scourging, nailing and instructing each other amid sparse shrubs, with Passion instruments, thunderbolts and studio props as usable isolated motifs.
